i look down in rehearsal and class and see my brother's feet
attached to my body
moving, sometimes awkwardly against the floor
against gravity

it's odd to see someone else's body part on myself
but they just don't look like mine any more

why, i wonder, is it that new things still have the ability to knock the wind out of me and render me scared out of my mind?
